BWA Kerry Video

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Not so good at these puns...ah well, exams are over! All went well, now it's time to hit the road again for the BWA event in Castlegregory, Co. Kerry! (
Can't wait to get on the water again, looks like we could get some competition for Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday anyway. Hopefully I'll still remember how to sail! If not I'll just stick to shit-talking on the beach, always a solid back up plan. I'll get a video banged out from the week as well.

The future of house cleaning?

As you can probably tell there hasn't been much windsurfing going on here..just some youtubing. Why does exam time always coincide with the beautiful weather?! I got this link from

Landlubbing Part I

Here's part I of my two part mini-video series. This a shortened video version of my life I suppose and my regular trips from East to West. I go to college in Dublin-a far cry from my favourite wave spots on the west coast! But city life has its perks as well. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

ps: there's something up with the quality. I'll get on it.

My lovely brush

You may think a washing brush does not justify a blog post, but I do, because this is my blog. And this is an awesome brush. And when I'm not on the water or studying I go on the hunt for other things to occupy my fancy. Everyone should have one of these.

Tasty food

I was so proud of this dish I took a photo of it! A classic veggie curry. In fact it was so good I'm thinking of trying out a veggie diet for a while! If you've any nice recipes give me a shout!

Tasty Weekend

Got a couple of great days sailing in over the April bank holiday weekend. On Sunday Dan Gardner, Pat Kavanagh and myself trekked up to the Mullet and scored a sweet port-tack jumping session on 4.7ms. After a fun jump-off (probably more hardcore than the recent hookipa one....:O) and two trashed sails for me, we called it a day at 8pm! Gotta love these long evenings.
Monday brought bigger swell, and we were lured down south to our favourite wave spot. We were joined by none other than Nige 'the plumdog' plummer, Katie 'macattack' McAnena and Mark 'I eat loaf of bread in one sitting' Killeen. Dodgy nicknames but hey it's not like I made them up....Everyone was on 3/7m/4.2m/4.7ms and ripping! Logo-plus peelers for everyone! Well, maybe not quite, as there were 5 surfers and 4 kitesurfers out as well as us, so the queuing system came into place. One kiter's lines broke and had to be rescued by the coastguard. Luckily he had friends on the shore who made the call early and all was well once again. Wash it all down with a pot of tea in Danny Mac's to cap off the weekend, nothing like it!

Intervarsity Madness

We had a great weekend for the 2010 Irish Intervarsities. They were held in Castlegregory, Co. Kerry, on the 27th and 28th March. UL hosted the spectacularly well organized event, with t-shirts, goody bags, a tasty bbq, a UV paint 90's night out, and, of course, races... UL took the win in the end, but these events are more about the fun I think. They also organized collection buckets that were shook until they were filled up (not sure how much but I remember being impressed) The money went to the RNLI and to Cancer Care research. Anyway cheers to everyone who contributed! Of course the event could not have been run without Jamie Knox Watersports, and Ulster Bank.

Here's a short video I put together of the weekend:

Some photos:

A showing of dedication from Gav Pitcher, who, among others, lopped off their curls for charity

The band were so good I wanted to join them

A few of these retro rigs took their pride of place on the water over the weekend aswel!

The gang..salt encrusted and hungover but happy!

Nooooo wind

I'm going to put my order in now for wind and swell next year just to make sure...parties have a lot to live up to though!

Next up..

This is from a light wind day in Bellmullet 2008:

There seems to be something up with the boarder cutting in on the videos. I'm going to get to work fixing it..If You've any suggestions give us a shout!

Some old bit and bobs...first off..

A very quick slide-show video I made in 2008:

A tune to get things started..
